We love to introduce you to one of Roanoke’s early homes built by David W. Flickwir, who was instrumental in the development and care of the railway locally. Perhaps it is the history of this beautiful home that enticed former owner Ronald Owens to purchase and care for it. (Be sure to check out the real estate auction listing for this home!) Ron was born in Stuart VA and was a successful Realtor and owner of Owens & Company Realty. This home is beautifully decorated and we are thrilled to point out some of the highlights.
Ron clearly had an affinity for learning about the Civil War. We can see this reflected in the collections of books, artwork by well known artist Mort Kunstler, portraits and figural decanters representing wartime generals & more. The living area is accented by Victorian Gentleman’s & Ladies Armchairs, Gone With The Wind Lamps, and a large signed art print by the late P. Buckley Moss. In the upstairs office you will find a beautiful solid wood antique desk.
There are four beds offered in this auction one of which has a matching suit by Pipers Grove Furniture. Also included are Statton side tables, stained glass lamps, marble top tables, nice handmade rugs, numerous pieces of Meissen Blue Onion Pattern China pieces & much more. We invite you to experience this collection as well as tour this historic home at our preview. Hope to see you there. Happy Bidding.
